Chinese National Day is celebrated on October 1st every year to commemorate the founding of People’s Republic of China since 1949.
On that day, lots of large-scaled activities are held nationwide. Besides, the 7-day holiday from Oct. 1st to 7th is called “Golden Week”, during which more and more Chinese people go traveling around the country.
Many Chinese people like to enjoy this week-long holiday by taking a short excursion or long distance family visit. It leads to a sea of people at attraction sites; train tickets difficult to get; flight tickets cost more than usual; and hotel rooms in short supply…
In recent years, the National Day holidays were extended to one week. It is like the US 4th of July holidays, but it is much longer.
The National Day is celebrated throughout mainland China, HongKong, and Macau with a variety of government-organized festivities, including fireworks and concerts.
